Jennifer “Jennicide” Leigh Signs with Sports Media Gaming.

The Sports Media Gaming Company recently released a press release stating that they will be providing poker player Jennifer “Jennicide” Leigh with exclusive commercial representation. The Group stated that they will be looking for deals in the gaming and non-gaming markets and also concentrate on promoting Jennifer in the Poker genre as well.

The Managing Director of Sports Media Gaming, Stephen Pearson, stated: “Jennifer brings a fresh approach to poker which combines skill at the tables with a high sense of fashion and glamour, all attractive attributes to brands wishing to align with more lifestyle conscious players,”

Jennifer has been making name for herself in poker over the past few years with appearances in several high profile events including the 2005 Poker Royale: Battle of the Ages, the 2006 World Series of Poker, and of course the World Poker Tour. In all of the events Jennifer managed to outlast some of the best names in poker.

Jennifer stated that she chose Sports Media Gaming because of they had “all the qualities I was seeking in a representation agency” and their track record as a Company. The Company also represents other poker stars as well as high profile poker websites.

Calvin Ayre Stepping Down From Bodog to Focus on Charitable Affairs.

Calvin Ayre, the controversial billionaire founder of Bodog, is stepping down from the empire he created to focus on his charitable efforts involving the Calvin Ayre Foundation.

Ayre started and built Bodog from just a small online sportsbook and turned it into one of the most recognized online gambling brands in the world. He has seen his company grow in ways he never could’ve imagined, and his marketing campaigns have only been rivaled by those at PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.

The face of Bodog has already relinquished control of his company to the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, which houses its operations in Canada. And though Calvin Ayre will no longer be involved operationally, he still made sure he had put into place a very competent and level-headed team of people to handle Bodog’s future in Europe, Africa, and eventually Latin America.

In an official statement, Ayre said that “while it has been great fun to live my life in front of the world’s cameras and online though my blog, I am looking forward to a more private and meaningful period of giving back and working to support the Calvin Ayre Foundation.”

Poker Pro Jennicide’s Playboy Debut Is On “Fire”

Playboy’s latest centerfold, poker pro Jennifer “Jennicide” Leigh, is a self-proclaimed internet geek. But this skilled poker chick’s main intention in posing for Playboy was to spread the word about poker, especially to women, and to show that you can be a woman, kick ass in poker and feel confident about yourself. She is definitely on “fire” as this poker term implies in showing strength.

Leigh is very passionate about the world of poker and one issue she wishes would change in poker is the gender classification in tournaments. Poker tournaments are not classified by race or sexual preference so she feels that gender should be done away with. Being a role model to other women is important to her. Jennifer would like to be viewed in almost the same manner as she views Jennifer Harman. Harman is a huge role model for Jennicide. She is impressed with Harman’s inner-strength as a woman, her struggles she has gone through and her talent in the world of poker and feels she is the strongest woman in poker.

Playboy became impressed with Jennicide when she was a guest at a charity event at the Mansion. The six-page layout was liberating and gave her a boost in her self-confidence. She definitely feels her confidence as a successful tournament and cash game poker player so posing for Playboy allowed her to become more confident with her own body.

Obviously this small town girl is intelligent as her online gambling skills have proven, and from May’s issue of Playboy, this small-town girl at heart proves that not only is a women’s presence in poker here to stay, but so is she. As spontaneous as her decision to drop out of college (she was pre-law) and move to Las Vegas and become a professional poker player, so was her decision to pose for Playboy. As she has been reported as saying, “I never know what I’m going to do next.” As sure as all eyes will be on her in her Playboy layout, so will all those same eyes be on her as she continues on her journey as a world class poker professional.

Montel Williams to Represent Team USA in Poker Nations Cup

As one of the early on chip leader’s in last year’s 2007 WSOP, Montel Williams was strutting his poker stuff and earning legitimacy as a contender as a poker pro.

His poker playing had not gone unnoticed. PartyPoker.com announced yesterday that Montel Williams was invited (and personally picked by team captain and esteemed Omaha master, Robert Williamson, III) to partake as a member of Team USA in the Poker Nations Cup. Though relatively new to the professional poker scene, this former talk show legend hosts quite a few of his own poker tournaments for charity events he heads for Multiple Sclerosis and the Montel Williams MS Foundation.

The structure of this global tournament has five esteemed poker pros and one PartyPoker online poker qualifier playing on each of the six teams from the United States (headed by Williamson), Britain (headed by Roland De Wolfe), Germany (headed by Michael Keiner) Ireland (headed by Padraig Parkinson) Netherlands (headed by Marcel Luske) and Sweden (headed by Bo Sehlstedt). In light of PartyPoker not accepting US poker players due to the US Gambling Ban, Team USA was left without an online poker qualifier, so Williamson thought Montel Williams would be a good fit. Williams will also be playing alongside Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, Jamie Gold, Freddy Deeb and Chris Brown.

The Poker Nations Cup will be played in Cardiff, Wales from April 7th through April 10th. Featuring six heats, the $5,000 buy-in event will have players competing for points (which determine chip stacks for each team) to see who will be top-finishers in the heats and make it on to the final play. This tag team formatted tournament will have team captains making tactical decisions throughout and strategizing how and when they will use their most valuable players. The teams will compete for the team prize of $100,000. In addition to the team prize, each winner of the six heats will be awarded $20,000. Last year’s tournament had Team Sweden walking away with the illustrious title.

“I Bet You” Wraps Up 2nd Season; New Episodes To Air Soon on MOJO HD.

The popular reality series “I Bet You” - which was created by poker superstars Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak - has just wrapped up filming its second season for the television channel MOJO HD.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of the show, it’s basically about long-time best friends Laak and Esfandiari going around the nation to different locales and performing different prop bets against one another. There’s a lot of fun and excitement about the show, mainly because who wouldn’t enjoy two grown men literally tossing around thousands of dollars trying to perform crazy and outrageous acts just in the name of GOOD TELEVISION?!

In this upcoming season of “I Bet You,” which airs April 10th, Phil and Antonio will visit places like Miami, LA, and of course Las Vegas, in an attempt to completely out-do themselves [and other random participants] in terms of prop bets. They will also bring along guest stars and players like Shannon Elizabeth and Laak’s current girlfriend Jennifer Tilly for the ride….so it should definitely be interesting to say the least, right?

Rumored prop bets for the 2nd season of the show include a $20k coin flip and a ballet contest. O RLY?

“The Grand” Promises to Bring A New Twist on Poker Movies.

Just saw this trailer floating around on IMDB and thought I would share it with the PO faithful.

The movie is called “The Grand” and stars a lot of very well-known actors and actresses.

It’s definitely no “Rounders,” but what “The Grand” brings is genuine hilarity and a fun little twist on the game of poker and the many different characters it entails.

With a lineup starring the likes of Woody Harrelson, Shannon Elizabeth, and Ray Romano - as well as a slew of poker stars such as Doyle Brunson and Antonio Esfandiari - it promises to showcase a funny spoof on poker itself.

It’s offers a VERY fresh perspective on an otherwise VERY classic game….lol.

Anti-Online Gambling Crusader Eliot Spitzer Involved In Federal Prostitution Sting in NYC!

Well apparently the Governor of New York must’ve missed the moral memo (great alliteration, huh?) that going behind your wife’s back to sleep with a prostitute is probably a little bit worse than going behind your wife’s back to sneak in a game of online poker every now and again….

Oh poor Eliot Spitzer.

Once the most powerful man in New York, the outspoken Governor - and anti-online gambling crusader - has taken a huge fall from grace. And this may be one he may never recover from….

Spitzer was the target of a federal prostitution ring in which he was discovered to have paid thousands of dollars to high-class escorts, secretly moving around cash from his own personal accounts to fund his sexual endeavors. Red flags were thrown up by his financial institution, and that’s what led to the eventual sting operation.

It is not known if Eliot Spitzer will resign from his position as Governor, but it is clear he will be under much public pressure scrutiny from his fellow Democrats and voters to step down. More on this story will be posted as it develops.

She may not be a household name yet, but keep your eye on Liv Boeree! The 23 year old astrophysics graduate from University of Manchester has become the newest face and poker player for Absolute Poker.
