February 20, 2008
The EPT Copenhagen tournament is now underway on the other side of the world. The European Poker Tour event was sold out several weeks ago, literally reaching its capacity within a few hours of opening registration up to the public. 460 people in total will be battling out in the opening 2-day heats, with the final table concluding on February 23rd.
PokerStars will of course have their usual lineup of poker professionals playing in the tournament, with stars like Dario Minieri (pictured), Bill Chen, and Daniel Negreanu participating in the event. Team PokerStars’ very own Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, fresh off his victory in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, will also hope to have similar success in Copenhagen. Phil Hellmuth Removed from a London Hotel Restaurant
February 14, 2008
Phil Hellmuth has been in London playing in the PartyPoker Premier League and unfortunately has not been performing as well as he would like. After a long day, Phil and fellow player Annie Duke, who both by the way are representing UltimateBet at the event, decided to go out for a bite to eat. They picked the Grill Restaurant which is inside the Dorchester Hotel.
Unfortunately Phil did not know that the restaurant has a dress code and that he would be asked to remove his hat. Phil was wearing his trademark ball cap with the gold PH logo on it and of course he did not want to remove it. Phil then refused to remove his hat and he was asked to leave the hotel. Of course the paparazzi were waiting outside and took a few photos as he was escorted out of the building. Several witnesses have stated it looked as though Phil left on his own accord.
Apparently the Dorchester is a very posh hotel and restaurant. It is has been said that the notorious Beckhams are regular visitors to the establishment. So of course the hotel would have a dress code. This I am sure put Hellmuth in an even worse mood since he is sitting at the bottom of the Premier League standings as of now. However his dining partner Annie Duke is currently in fifth.

Phil Ivey Loses 141K Pot To ‘Durrr’ on Full Tilt Poker
February 11, 2008
I was railtarding a few of the higher-limit games on Full Tilt Poker last night when I stumbled across a HUUUUGE game being played at the ‘Phil Ivey Deathmatch’ Heads-Up table. The stakes were $500/$1000 and online badass “Durrr” had been playing a session with the great Phil ivey himself. The game was pretty intense from the moment I sat down to watch, and the railbirds were of course up to there usual shenanigans as they too watched the insane, aggressive action that was going on.
To make another-wise long story somewhat short, after a few back-and-forth pots were taken down by Phil Ivey, “Durrr” - know as Tom Dwan in real life - made a huge call on 4th street against the Full Tilt Pro. After the turn put up 3 diamonds (potential flush draw), Durrr made an insta-check and got Ivey to move all-in for his last $50,000 or so…bringing the pot to nearly $100k! Without hesitation, the young cash game pro made a relatively quick call and exposed a set of deuces that he hit on the flop. Phil wasn’t drawing completely dead, but his King-high flush draw (As,Kd) unfortunately didn’t hit on the river, and a $141,000 pot was shipped over to Durrr!

-Jennicide- aka Jennifer Leigh To Pose In PLAYBOY Magazine
February 8, 2008
Jennifer Leigh, other - wise known as “Jennicide”, a twenty four year old poker hottie, will be seen in all her glory in the May 2008 issue of Playboy magazine. It was around summertime last year that news was spreading that Jennicide had posed for the magazine. The rumor is that the lovely Jennifer striped down to nothing but a poker face to pose for the famous magazine.
It has not been confirmed whether or not she will grace the cover or a six page spread. Either way just the pure thought of her in the magazine should send poker players running from the felt to pick up the issue come April. “Yes I said April.” The May issue will be available for purchase this April and will also include an interview with Leigh.
Jennicide plays online at some of the larger online cash games and has found success at land events as well. She has cashed out at both World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker events. With the issue hitting stands before this year’s WSOP begins let’s hope that Jennicide brings a couple of bunnies with her to the event. Maybe even Hef himself might enjoy a little poker.
LAPD Un-Invites Shahram -the SHEIK- Sheikhan from Poker Tournament
February 8, 2008
News involving Shahram Sheikhan continues to go from bad to worse. Shahram other-wise known as “Sheiky” was involved in a deportation incident a few months ago when he was almost removed from the United States. He was in prison for nine months in 1995 due to three misdemeanor counts of child molestation. When the charges surfaced a few months ago, Shahram was almost deported until a judge ruled otherwise.
Then when Shahram participated in the NBC show Poker After Dark, the child molestation charges once again resurfaced. Now it seems even more problems are stemming from his former charges. Shaharm was invited to play in the Los Angeles Police Department poker tournament by the LAPD, but now his invitation has been retracted. Or it is possible that Shahram decided to not attend. A story was published today on the PokerHelper website that says Shahram will not be appearing as scheduled.
The story goes on to say that the Sheriff’s department announced they had invited Shahram as their celebrity guest to the 2nd annual Memorial Poker Classic. The event will take place on the 24th at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California. The event would raise money for families of law enforcement and firefighters who had lost their lives. It was after this announcement that the criticism began toward the police department for choosing Shaharm, a convicted child molester, as their special guest.
According to the article on PokerHelper: “A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department last week defended Sheikhan and reiterated that he would be attending the charity poker event.” As of now Shaharm will not be attending and we should know the real reason soon, whether it be to save face or the police departments reputation. Either way, it seems that Shaharm’s past is going to follow him no matter where he goes.
